The Periodic Table of Elements   The Periodic Table is a chart containing all the known chemical elements arranged according to their atomic numbers  (McMonagle, 2018) . The modern periodic table was organized by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1896 and has a total of 103 elements. Below is a chart of the first 20 elements which are some of the most common in our environment.  On the Period Table, Elements are arranged in boxes. Included in each box is the atomic symbol, a shorthand way of representing the elements or atoms of an element. Every element has a unique atomic symbol consisting of either 1 or 2 letters with the first letter written in upper case and the second in lower case.   The number of each element is also referred to as the atomic number.  This picture shows the different headings for a Hydrogen Element as it would appear on The Periodic Table of Elements.   Atoms are the smallest part of an element and are usually electrically neutral. Elements are referred to as pure substances that are unable to be broken down into simpler substances (Chapman, et al, 2009) . The image above shows the parts of an atom. It shows that an atom is made up of neutrons, Protons, and electrons.  Listen to this interesting song that summarizes the basic information of an atom.
